BIG DATA SCIENCE - BAHIA 2018
Purpose:
To bring together Brazilian and UK researchers to discuss how big data and
data science methods and tools can be used to address existing and new challenging
problems on genomic epidemiology, longitudinal studies, new diseases, data linkage
& visualization, and predictive analytics applied to healthcare data.
Format:
There will be 4 sessions discussing Bioinformatics, Epigenomics, Methods and Tools for Health Research,
and Open / New Challenges related to the use of big data sets for health research. We will also run 3 short
courses (3 - 4 hours) on machine learning, phenotyping methods, data preprocesing and linkage.
History:
This is the 4th edition in a series of events jointly organized by Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ)
and the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) to promote big data research applied to public health
care data in Brazil. Previous editions were held in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
